This would be a boring, bland photo of a fountain if you'd centered the spout. As is, you've created tension (we can't see the top of the plume of water) and made us look for something ELSE at the centre of the photo.
This is the kind of instinct that people who photograph for TIME and LIFE and Nat. Geog. have.
Agree with the anony mouse entirely, fantastic water picture...
Wow! And all along, I was simply hoping for a nice "sparkly" picture with the sun setting behind the water droplets.
You know, there's a million things I point the lens at but don't hit the shutter. It's only when it feels good, when I feel it in my gut, that I take the photo.
The forgotten advantage of film... scarcity.
