"Improving Home Improvement"

While leisurely strolling down the clearance aisle at work, I happened upon an Irwin 20-piece drill bit set with a big "A $9 VALUE!" sticker on it. Problems:
1) It costs $9.97
2) It was clearanced down from $19.97

[/me wishes he knew what that conversation was about, sounded fascinating. Thinks cool thoughts. Kelly out of Saved By The Bell wasn't a brill role-model IMO.]

Don't you have trade laws in the US, if it's marked for $9, then it's $9. ;)

ah, but it didn't say the price was $9, just that it was a 9 dollar value. Tricky, Tricky. I've pointed this out to several hardware employees, including the department manager. The most thorough explanation I've gotten for this is a shrug.

The shrug conveys untold depths of meaning. I'm sure there's some sort of code in the poetic dance the shoulders perform....
